Leigh Cole was born in Roanoke, Virginia, where she often worked for her familyʼs business selling t-shirts and souvenirs for local events ranging from hockey games to the circus. After moving to Richmond, VA she began her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, and in 2007 she received her BFA in both sculpture and painting.
Her work has been included in group shows both in Virginia and Southern California, and in 2008 the San Diego Childrenʼs Museum commissioned her to build a permanent sign installation for their teen studio. Currently she is pursuing her MFA at the University of California, San Diego. Her work centers around the fabrication of objects, and has most recently taken the form of illuminated text.
